WMLC partners with Kickoff Magazine – 6/4/10
THE V&A WATERFRONT WORLD MEDIA & LEGACY CENTRE TO PARTNER WITH KICK OFF MAGAZINE IN PROVIDING SOCCER CONTENT FOR 2010
Cape Town – In keeping with its objective of positively impacting media and business experiences of South Africa, the V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre has partnered with Kick Off magazine, the leading authority on South African soccer, and kickoff.com, Africa’s biggest soccer website, to provide its soccer content for 2010.
The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre has been created as a joint-marketing initiative of a number of “best-of-breed” service providers that provide a range of services, equipment, products and content to media and business. Bringing together world-class skills and experience via informed and connected people enables the centre to generate a turn-key solution to each and every particular media or business challenge. Much in the same way as the clichéd vision of Germany was sunk forever after Germany 2006, The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre with the support of Kick Off can positively influence the way Cape Town, South Africa and Africa is perceived in the international arena through turn-key solutions and services.
“The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre strives to create unparalleled opportunities for unaccredited media to work in Cape Town – both in 2010 and beyond. The Media Centre was designed to provide broadcasters, journalists and photographers with a full range of world-class support services that would make reporting from Cape Town a breeze” says centre director Martin Cuff. “Through our partnership with Kick Off Magazine, we can now also link directly to great local soccer content, stories and characters.”
Kick Off will provide the V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre with weekly magazines, breaking news, daily round-ups and revealing stories from its website and colourful insight into the players, the ambassadors, and the development of the sporting communities locally, nationally as well as across the continent as a whole. Together with its stills or film production partners, V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre media will have access to location shoots for Kick Off storyteller interviews.
The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre will also host Kick Off’s Series of African Soccer Ambassador Meet & Greets where V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre credentialed media have an opportunity to hear from, and interact with icons of the game. “Apart from what happens inside the world-class stadiums and the superstars that will be in South Africa, there are loads of fascinating stories about football in this country,” says Kick Off magazine editor Neil Greig. “The football characters and their tales are as diverse as South Africa’s society and this opportunity will bring the world closer to the roots of the game here in Mzansi.” Whether it’s freeway soccer development or the development of women’s soccer in Africa, the media will have exposure to all facets of the sport.
Based at Portswood House in the heart of the safe, secure and fun V&A Waterfront, the Media & Legacy Centre is a short walk from Cape Town Stadium, the Cape Town CBD and the Global Icons Festival at the CTICC. It will function as a hub for media and business during 2010 and beyond.
