WMLC Launch – 24/3/10
THE V&A WATERFRONT WORLD MEDIA & LEGACY CENTRE INTRODUCES ITS SERVICE OFFERING FOR 2010.
PRESS RELEASE: MARCH 24th 2010
The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre has been established to assist Media and Business to have phenomenal, memorable experiences in Cape Town – and to write and broadcast about them widely – thereby positively influencing the way South Africa is perceived in the international arena.
Writing in The Times of London after Germany 2006[1], Alistair Campbell, Tony Blair’s former advisor claimed that the clichéd vision of Germany had been sunk forever:
‘A number of myths have had to be revised. The idea of the Germans as insular, humorless and not the kind of people you want at a party: that one’s gone forever. This has been one of the best parties of all time.’ Post-2006, internet enquiries for travel to Germany rose 25%. The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre hopes to support a similar impact with positive stories and experiences in Cape Town.
To achieve this, The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre has been created as a joint-marketing initiative of a number of “best-of-breed” service providers that provide a range of services, equipment, products and content to media and business. Based at Portswood House in the heart of the safe, secure and fun V&A Waterfront, the Media & Legacy Centre is a short walk from Cape Town Stadium, the Cape Town CBD and the Global Icons Festival at the CTICC. It will function as a hub for media and business during 2010 and beyond.
